Guns And Tyranny

The people featured above are all brutal tyrants and dictators who used torture, starvation and murder to eliminate millions of their own people.

Between 1900 and 2000, more than 170,000,000 people died at the hands of their own governments because they were defenceless.

And yes, that's not a typing error - 170 MILLION PEOPLE !!!

One of the first things that each of these dictators did before starting their brutal regimes was to introduce laws that prevent civilians from owning and using firearms.

THE REASON THEY DID THIS IS BECAUSE IT'S VERY EASY TO HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL OVER PEOPLE WHEN THEY CAN'T DEFEND THEMSELVES !!!

Many people fail to realise that strict gun laws do little to protect innocent people, as they allow a situation to develop whereby governments can expand their power and have complete control of a country and it's people. This is often referred to as tyranny and is a situation that's often extremely difficult (if not impossible) to reverse.

Governments must ALWAYS be kept in check by an armed citizenry, because if tyranny sets in the people are often treated in the most appalling and barbaric way by their own government leaders.

For instance, did you know that -

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1939 Germany established gun control and from 1939 to 1945, millions of Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1970 Uganda established gun control and from 1971 to 1979,
300,000 Christians and others, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1956, Cambodia established gun control and between
1975 and 1979, 2,000,000 "educated" people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

More information is available by watching the documentary "Innocents Betrayed". This documentary is highly recommended but contains graphic images and themes that are not suitable for children. As unpleasant as it is to watch, it gives shocking but true information about how dangerous gun control really is.

Another country that has a total ban on gun ownership is North Korea. This country is a totalitarian state where the government rules with an iron fist and where torture and political persecution are routine, daily occurrences -

In October 2007, a South Pyongan factory chief convicted of making international phone calls from phones he installed in his factory basement was executed by firing squad in front of a crowd of 150,000 people in a stadium, as a warning to others.

In another instance, 15 people were publicly executed for doing nothing more than leaving the country and crossing the border into China.

Imagine living in a country where -

The government dictate what TV channels you can and cannot watch. TV sets in North Korea are programmed to recieve only government channels. The government distributes all radio and television sets. Citizens are forbidden to alter them to make it possible to receive broadcasts from other nations, and doing so carries draconian penalties. TV sets are fitted with seals to prevent tampering.

Citizens cannot freely travel around the country or go abroad. Only the political elite may own vehicles. The North Korean government limits access to fuel and other forms of transportation.

You will be sent to a brutal, inhumane prison for speaking your mind. Freedom is speech is strictly prohibited. Criticism of the government and its leaders is strictly curtailed and making such statements can be cause for arrest and consignment to one of North Korea's "re-education" camps.

And where reading this website is a "crime" punishable by the death penalty.

That is the reality of life in North Korea, and that's a few of the appalling human rights abuses that happen on a regular basis.

My point is that once the citizens have been disarmed, then there is NOTHING to stop the government becoming totalitarian and behaving in this way, as the citizens have no means of fighting back if the authorities decide to take away all your rights and freedoms.

Remember what Benjamin Franklin said : "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both".
